  • Glam Garden: Meet the Partners

    SEPTEMBER 2017 WINDOW DISPLAY
Goodbye Summer Hello Fall… even though Fall officially starts this month, we are still soaking up vibrant greenery in our Glam Garden themed September 2017 window display created by Carla Anglada, Chief Designer of Danielle Roe Events. It’s gorgeous inspiration for our Spring/Summer 2018 brides too! When it comes to our window displays, we always want decor that is unique, ahead-of-the-“ahem”-curve and fresh. Well, we think Carla, Danielle and her team kicked it up a notch! The combination of natural elements, drapery sheers, copper accent pieces and soft colored glassware all blend into a fantastical sight. To capture it all, we teamed up with Morgan Alanna of Morgan Alanna Photography to capture the behind-the-sparkle moments of how the display was produced. Meet our decor partners and learn more about their passion for weddings and what inspires them.

    FOUNDER
    DANIELLE ROE EVENTS

Danielle Roe Events will be celebrating 2 years in business the end of this year. Danielle got her start working in the corporate world in the Public Relations field, planning corporate events and parties for clients and representing them to the media. When it comes to couples and clients she works with she enjoys seeing their connection with each other and to work with couples who are truly in love- it makes the day that much more special!

While she has done some pretty incredible events, including associate producing a handful of national events for the Tony-Award winning play, Hamilton, her favorite moment has been thanks to one of her awesome grooms. It was a wedding that DRE did in Napa this year, the groom was just in awe of the whole day and teared up every time he saw his new wife or spoke about her. So incredibly sweet!

    Carla Anglada
    CHIEF DESIGNER

    DANIELLE ROE EVENTS

Watching Carla’s vision formulate step-by-step was like seeing an artist’s painting come to life. As the Chief Designer of our September 2017 window, Carla brainstormed ideas and upon finalizing the concept, she took the idea and ran with it. Coordinating with other creatives and the SPARKLE team, she brought together all elements of the Glam Garden using wooden halo cutouts delicately wrapped in fresh greenery, soft airy sheers draped over a backdrop to a sweet tablescape. As Chief Designer, Carla works with clients to bring together their ideas and execute them to perfection.

    Danielle Roe Events Pro-Tip

find someone that fits with your personality.  While we all have packages that we offer, chat with your potential planner and make sure that they really understand what your working style and communication needs are. Your planner should always be willing to be flexible, within reason, to your needs and accommodate your production needs.

    MORGAN ALANNA
    PHOTOGRAPHER
    MORGAN ALANNA photography

Morgan has been a wedding photographer for two years. She’s always enjoyed photography as a hobby, but after being laid off from a corporate job, she decided to dive fully and whole-hardheartedly into her creative side. And photography has been it for her ever since. Despite she being new to her profession, she was recognized for her talent by having two photos featured on the official Sony Camera website. When she’s not photographing you will find Morgan painting, reading or listening to her current favorite tune called, “Give Me the Simple Life,” by Steve Tyrell.
She absolutely loves the positivity and happiness she gets to experience when shooting a wedding.  She admits, it’s a high stress job, but she states that the stress forces her to dig deep into both her creativity and perfectionism as a photographer! And for her, that makes each wedding a unique and beautiful experience.

    Morgan Alanna Pro-Tip

Interview them, and don’t be afraid to shop around! Your style should be highlighted by the photography! If your photographer has a super bright “catalog-look,” but you are a more Boho-hippie kinda gal, then you will probably hate the photos! No matter how talented the photographer is!

  • SPARKLE Summer Dreams

    August 2017 Window Display
Our August 2017 window, designed by Marjorie Perez of Something Planned Events is inspired by the warmth of summer and aspirations of the perfect wedding. Dream catcher-inspired mobiles using intricate laces and motifs of sand, florals and weathered decor creates a relaxed  scene. The custom canopy gives off a boho vibe for outdoor events. Special thanks to Justin Buettner Photography for the photos.

    MARJORIE PEREZ
    SOMETHING PLANNED EVENTS

    Marjorie
Perez was in high school when she started creating memorable experiences. Later as a full-time Legislative Assistant she had the urge to p lan events. Now over the past 20 years, she has coordinated everything from weddings to Quinceaneras to baby showers.  And she has received past Professional of the Year and President’s Awards from the Association of Wedding Professionals International.

What she loves about planning are the initial stages of learning what a couple would like.  But the biggest reward Marjorie says is the end of the night, “when it has all come together and the couple’s dream has come true, but most of all they have truly enjoyed their big day.”

Marjorie finds inspiration in all things, from everyday items to nature. And even though she could go anywhere in the world, her favorite place to be is with her family, including her three children who are also part of Something Planned Events. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, relaxing and cooking.

    JUSTIN BUETTNER

    JUSTIN BUETTNER PHOTOGRAPHY

As a young child, Justin was always making videos and shooting images of his toy Star Wars action figures. He went into cinematography when he lived in Los Angeles, and then became Head of Graphics for Jewelry.com right out of college. He has been primarily a wedding photographer the last 13 years, which is something he loves – working with people. He loves their stories and their personalities.

One thing you will notice about Justin that he’s a people person, which his clients love because he asks a lot of questions and learns about them. He believes there is something to learn from everyone he meets.

.With experience comes some great insight. Justin advises, “I would say meet with multiple photographers because personality matters with this hire (photographers are around you a lot on the wedding day). Make sure you see a complete body of work and not just look at the highlight reel that is the portfolio page. It is important to see how a photographer handles a whole wedding day and how they handle different types of lighting conditions.”
When Justin isn’t off shooting in some beautiful Pacific Coast area, you will find him playing with his kids, playing basketball, drawing or planning his next great white shark cave diving excursion.
  • Seashores and Sparkle

Summer brings on sun-filled weddings by the shore and beach beautiful brides walking in the sand. For our July 2017 window we wanted to bring that summer spirit with beach-themed decor by Shari Wise, owner of Events by Wise and captured by Carmen Salazar-Burke of Carmen Salazar Photography. Whether it’s Monterrey, Maine, Hawaii, Mexico or some other exotic beach locale, the sound of waves and fresh sea air calms your soul and rejuvenates your mind. Two things all brides want.

    Owner, Events by Wise

Shari may have started a professional career in accounting and human resources, but it was 6 years ago when she planned her daughter’s wedding that she realized she had another calling as an event planner. But she’s always been a planner at heart. Even as a child she organized and coordinated the neighborhood kids to put on skits and plays.

Now as a full-time planner, who loves Hawaii, country music and oldies, she enjoys working with couples that have similar tastes and strives to make each couple’s event as perfect as possible. Her reward is knowing she is taking away a couple’s stress and helping them enjoy their wedding day. She started my business out of her LOVE for weddings.  “I want everyone to be able to have the best wedding possible!  I want all their family and friends to enjoy the wedding and if I can help with that then I have done my job.”

Shari’s Planning Advice: The earlier you start with a planner the better. Why struggle through it all when a planner can help you from the start!  Even if you do not want full-service planning, they can start you in the right direction and help keep you on track.

When Shari isn’t planning weddings or other special events, you can find her spending time with her family, reading or outside gardening.

As the Founder of Fresh Bash, a collective event design competition, she is used to working with other event pros who push the envelope and she is constantly seeking new innovative way to showcase her clients through her photography. When she’s not on a shoot or exploring new locations, you can find her working on a DIY home project, playing with her dog or trying  out a new yoga class.

    The White Elephant Co.

We approached Sharon, owner of The White Elephant Company, after we saw her impressive work for our May photo shoot. We are always on the lookout for new, fresh styles and we think Sharon is a visionary. The combination of organic textures (woven baskets, woods, and plants), with brass and gold metals creates an inviting and natural look that have carried us away. Her styling while incorporating familiar items, such as macrame, is a breath of fresh air to wedding and event design. We love how comfortable the display feels, while retaining a formal heir. Thank you for bringing your style to SPARKLE Sharon!

Leilani’s passion for photography developed since childhood, as she often saw her mother with camera in hand and gathering family together for photos. Weddings became a favorite subject, with each one being so different and beautiful. For Leilani, being a wedding photographer is a gift because she gets to capture a such a special part of life for a couple. Capturing the nervous excitement and joy and pareticularly moments between the father and the bride, are a few of her favorite parts. When she’s not photographing, she travels with her family (most recently to New York). We are so happy to have her again as our featured photographer and can’t wait for everyone to see her work!

    Joyeux Events

Meet Jessica Shurtleff of Joyeux Events. Jessica has years of experience in event planning, even before starting her own business. She definitely brought full party vibes to this month’s window. Creating a full fiesta in our May Window meant bringing color in the way of pom poms, photo banners, and a cake created by Ruboolus Bakery. We were so pleased with the full concept for Jessica’s design; including an entire photo shoot, preceding the actual window install. Thank you again Jessica for doing double the styling for May’s window.

    Sage Dove Photography

Our photographer of the month was clearly born with a natural gift; you wouldn’t guess she has been doing photography for only a year. Meet Brittany Williams of Sage Dove Photography. Being a romantic herself, capturing that distinct love between each couple is a principle key in her style and the reason she loves shooting weddings so much. One of her favorite shots is capturing the groom’s reaction as he sees the bride walk down the aisle. Being able to see the emotion on his face switch from nervous, to overwhelming joy is unmissable. Its pure love and the the entire purpose of the wedding is so clear in that moment. As a mother of three, Brittany’s days are usually full, but they try to make room for quiet time to enjoy together.

    Inspirations by Gina

We were thrilled to have Gina come on for our April window. She came to us with a clear vision of how she wanted to usher in spring. A trip which lead her to encounter the beautiful cherry blossom and inspired her to bring the brightness of this flower to SPARKLE. We adore all the pink tones that were incorporated into her design and how elegantly the typically whimsical color was used. Gina will be partnering with us again to capture the beauty of the harvest season, so make sure to check back in November!

Emily has been a photographer for seven years. A passion that started in high school and put her through college, continues today in the form of wedding photography. Though we see an array of styles, Emily’s favorite is still weddings. She loves being a part of that special day and capturing details so often missed in the excitement. It’s a different experience every weekend, Emily noted, and it’s so important to capture the way that day felt; the emotions and energy that you can feel in that moment. When asked what she does in her free time, Emily’s response was “shoot more weddings!” Photography aside, she enjoys traveling and is excited for her upcoming trip to Africa.

    Bells Custom Design

We are so grateful to Monique for making such an incredible display this month. The craftsman ship behind the paper flowers backdrop is impeccable. When you look at the display, you begin to notice each flower is different than the last; much like each one of our brides. Though just starting her business in January of 2017, Monique has had plenty of experience with decorating for friends and family. When you look at this display, its undeniable that she’s done this before.

    Swoonable

It was such a pleasure to have Aimee in our shop. Her design for our January window is exactly what we hoped for in the first month of the year: a clean and sleek design that is incredibly refreshing. The banners which hang throughout the window, show sweet sentiments that offer positive change, instead of outdated high-pressure resolutions. We love the modern design she created to welcome in 2017; using bold black and white stripes, gold sequins, and contemporary furnishings, this window has all the makings of a celebration.

    Thank you again Aimee!

Kris definitely has an eye for detail; making sure shes getting the perfect line for her picture. This detail orientation comes across in her work. We are so pleased with the way she brought our January Window to life through her photography.

    Thank you Kris!

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Forever Vintage Rentalsimg_6024 before and are always impressed by their creations. This month they unveiled their “chandi-tree”;  chandeliers that have been stacked on top of each other to create a tree silhouette. It is simply stunning when its all lit up, especially at night. The original visions for the December Window by Forever Vintage Rentals was quite different, but when they revealed how their design we fell in love. There couldn’t be a more perfect theme, not only for the holidays, but for the time we find ourselves in as well. We could all use a little more love to light up our world.

Thank you for bringing light to our December window!
